My Button Collection

Baaaaaah I wanna make shit. I really love being inspired, but it’s always at really random times where often times I don’t have access to the materials I need, or the time/space I need to create. I’m working up a line of clothes based around concept of trash/recycling. I likely won’t be able to seriously start on this until Summer though, with it’s true due date in Spring when a big sustainable arts/music festival hits my school.

I’ve also sort of gotten stuck on the idea of recycled costumes, since often times people don’t know what to do with their costumes after they’re finished. In addition, you only wear costumes, from time to time…rarely..not everyday. Because of this they don’t have to be items that are regularly washed, so they could easily be made from plastic or other unwashables.

dats all for right meow. peace bitches.

I want this outfit. And I’m in the middle of making a sick as fuck circular scarf.

Ramblings of my Future

I spent like 2 hours today looking at Fashion schools when I should have been packing for Paris. You see…I really wanted to go to Fashion school right out of high school but got a lot of pressure from my mom to get a “real degree” and I could pursue that after. I think she assumed I would loose interest and get a “real job” with my “real degree”…bullshit.

Long story short I found out there are a few schools I really dig that offer Masters of Fine Arts degrees in Fashion! This is sort of perfect in a few ways..I could study what I want and appease my mother by getting my masters degree as well. So far today I’ve emailed Parsons, Art institute, and the Academy of art asking if I need to have a related field of study for my bachelors to qualify for their masters programs.

I leave for Paris in 2 days..and the next year will help me decide if this is something I want to pursue as a career. I don’t want to be grounded to one place and I don’t want to be stuck in the shallow fashion world…but those both come with pursuing this field and I think I could do such.

But as Karl Marx would lead us all to believe..we are creatures born to labor..it is our life, love, passion and purpose for life. So why not do what I love….right?
